Frequently Asked Questions
The science behind teeth whitening:
We use peroxide-based chemistry. Peroxide compounds are able to whiten teeth through a process called oxidation. Peroxide has the ability to penetrate slightly the inner aspect of the enamel within a matter of only a few minutes after application where there are complex organic molecules within the tooth that reflect a specific wavelength of light and are responsible for the color.
It has been shown that by releasing free radicals, peroxide has the ability to oxidize the color-producing organic compounds found within the enamel’s organic make-up. When these organic compounds are oxidized, the resulting oxidized molecules reflect a different wavelength of light. They are now a different color, which is perceived as whiter teeth!
What is the difference between other methods of whitening?
Our whitening technique whitens your teeth immediately and has no side effects. The result is 40% better than home whitening products and comparable technologies and at 1/3 the price (or less!) than having your dentist whiten your teeth.
The types of peroxide:
The two types of peroxide compounds are hydrogen peroxide and carbamide peroxide. Take home over-the-counter whitening systems use carbamide peroxide. In-office whitening that use an accelerator light should use only hydrogen peroxide, because carbamide peroxide does not react to light energy. We use only hydrogen peroxide for our chairside light-assisted whitening procedure.
Is it safe?
Yes, scientific studies have shown that using Peroxide to whiten teeth is both very effective and very safe. The dental industry has used it in teeth whitening for over twenty years. It does not change or damage the structure of teeth; it merely makes teeth whiter and brighter. In fact, peroxide compounds have been safely used in various cosmetic procedures for many years. There is a significant amount of clinical data particularly in strong support of a neutral pH, peroxide-based system.
Will it hurt?
Most of our customers experience no pain or sensitivity after the treatment. During your treatment you may feel a slight effervescence of the peroxide, but should not experience any lingering discomfort.
Who will be assisting me during the whitening process?
One of our Trained Employees will assist you. We are not dentists or dental personnel. This is not a dental procedure; it is a cosmetic procedure and we will not be performing any invasive actions.
How long will the whitening last?
This varies from person to person and depends on your lifestyle, but the effects should usually last for 6 months to a year. We offer follow-up treatments for just $25, which most people do every 6 months, or for those who want to get, keep, and maintain the brightest, whitest smile possible, may come more often. Please ask for our recommendations after your initial whitening session.
